Velomat has over thirty years’ experience in this sector: this has enabled the development of standard platforms that are now in their third generation.

The index Velomat modules are fully mechanical and are divided into two families:

Index module 1150

independent shafts

Each station realizes a different kinematic of the end effector although the machine is operated by a single motor. The arms are moved by a pair of globoidal cams that perform of a cycle of whatever complexity and allow to realize mounting cycles not achievable with normal pick & place. The Velomat 1150 modules reach speeds of 120 cycles per minute. As of today there are over 250 of those modules operating in all parts of the world.

Index Module 500

 

The operating arms are actuated simultaneously by two oscillating disks; the whole machine is also operated in this case by a single motor. The Velomat 500 module allows to approach assembly problems where the cost and the overall dimensions of the machine are crucial design parameters.

LINEAR INDEX

CLASSIC SOLUTION

 

Consists of chain moved by mechanical intermitter synchronous with the transmission of the gripping and laying arms.
The arms are driven by a pair of flat cams that enable the realization of even complex gripping and laying cycles. The linear index platform is often used when more than two components are to be assembled per machine cycle and when the number of components constituting the parts to be assembled is very large. Typical cadences for this platform are 50-60 cycles per minute.

EFL

The assembly module is based on a flexible, reprogrammable, electrically-driven linear index platform equipped with innovative electronic manipulators, which meet the demand for assembly systems with multiple production capacities.

Component loading, unloading and assembly are performed using powerful electronic manipulators, via which each movement is customised according to the task to be executed and fully synchronised and integrated with the rotary transfer system. The manipulators are driven by two axes with electric motors; specially designed kinematics ensure they perform the desired trajectory while minimizing the overall size of the unit.

Providing ground-breaking flexible automation, the EFL assembly module overcomes the limitations of conventional custom assembly lines for the production of a single product at a set output rate. The EFL automated production system is a configurable, multi-purpose asset. Designed to make a broad range of products, it ensures fast, cost-effective changeovers.
